Bridesmaids Saying Yes!

Hey people, I hope you enjoyed reading my last post “The Traditions of Giving and Taking”. This next post is one of my favourites, my bridesmaid!!

I have a very small circle of friends, like 7, and 3 of them are my sisters lol. It was hard to ask some of them to be my bridesmaid, due to some circumstances. I also couldn’t get all of them together, so I had to do it separately, ask my sisters on one day and my two best friends on another.

Ideally, I would have much preferred to take them out and ask them all out once, but alas, it was hard to do that. So I asked my sisters first, we went to the zoo and after the end of our trip I gave them each a goodie bag of things I made with little trinkets and stuff. I asked my older sister and my younger sister, Ali, to be my bridesmaid and then my baby sister, Iqra, to be my flower girl.

They were not expecting it all and were over the moon, I didn’t go crazy or all out like you see these days, with my sisters it’s always “less is more” and it’s the thought that counts, we really appreciate the little things. Especially my older sister, she really thought she wouldn’t be included for some strange reason, (she’s bit of a weirdo that one πŸ˜‰ ) anyway, they loved it and obviously they said yes, they had to, lol.

With my two best friends, Priya and Shakeela, it was always known that I’d end up being married first, just from the guess of me being Bengali, lol. I knew that they would definitely play a huge role in me getting married, they’ve always been there, and I knew I wanted them to take part in such a huge moment of my life. Getting these two together was loooong. They’re always busy, or not even busy, we are just so damn lazy to meet up and do things. Bearing in mind, we literally all live so close together πŸ˜›

I managed to get hold of them and meet up at a coffee shop, I gave the waitress the cards to bring out with our order to ask them to be my bridesmaid. Obviously no wasn’t an answer, these bishesss would have to say yes.

They were surprised as well to be honest, they didn’t think I’d be doing the whole bridesmaid shenanigans, but I had to. It’s a cute thing to do and show you appreciate  them when you’re getting married, they go through so much with you, so it is without a doubt they are there besides you when you’re walking down the aisle.

I know Shakeela will kill me for uploading this, but I think they look good πŸ™‚

I would have loved to ask my cousins, and two of my other friends to be my bridesmaid too, but despite not being able to ask them cause of the circumstance, they were all there for me and supported me on my big day πŸ™‚

Bridesmaid Outfits

When it came to bridesmaid and outfits, I wasn’t Bridezilla, I honestly just gave them the colour I wanted them to wear and they were free to wear whatever outfit they wanted, apart from pj’s. I wasn’t going to be them brides that forced all their bridesmaid to wear the same outfits, making it look like you got them on special offer or something, like buy 1 get 7 free. (No disses to brides that do do that)

You have to understand, that everyone has their own styles, preferences, and they all aren’t gonna suit the same outfit style, if that makes sense? So I just gave them the colour to wear, and they picked whatever outfit they wanted.

HOWEVER…

Cozzzz there’s so many different shades of MINT, I had 50 shades of mint, no lie, all of them got different shades of mint. Like literally, one was a dark mint, one was peppermint, one was like turquoise mint, my bad for thinking there was only one shade of mint, fml! But ya know what? I didn’t care, this wedding got me already feeling so stressed af, that I was just like “meh”. As long as they had something that looked like mint, and were comfortable then I was like “cool.”

It was the same for my mehndi, I picked the colour black, and left it to everyone to pick what they wanted to wear, as long as it was black, then I was happy. πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

We went out on a few shopping trips to look for their outfits, all to the famous Green Street. The amount of trips we made just to look for mint or anything black, however in all honesty, it was much easier for them to find something black for the mehndi, than mint for the wedding. πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

For the mehndi, I would have liked everyone to wear the same matching sarees in black, but tbh I couldn’t be bothered to deal with the stress of doing a bulk order or picking a saree that everyone agreed on. So I just left it to them to get what they like. πŸ™„
